Re : democratic concepts -- Kathy-jo Wargin
The most difficult concepts for the students to grasp are not the
concepts themselves but the vocabulary associated with the concepts.
They do not have a problem understanding their freedom, but they do have
a problem when it is masked as life, liberty and the pursuit of
happiness.
They do not have a problem understanding a fair deal on the playground,
but they do have a problem understanding justice. It is merely exposure
to these core democratic values.
